Built in 1960, Station 2 is the oldest of the two Zephyrhills Fire Stations. Frequently dubbed "The Outhouse" or "The Dungeon," Station 2 was the original home of Zephyrhills Fire Rescue being previously named "Station 1" prior to the newly constructed Station 1. Station 2 has experienced its share of repairs, renovations, and additions. Station 2 even became an island during the 2004 Hurricane Season when the 6th Avenue and 7th Street flood waters elevated onto the bay floors. Station 2 personnel utilized the same sandbags that were distributed to the citizens of Zephyrhills that season.
Station 2 is operated as a 24/48 three-shift cycle manned by three Officers, five Paramedic/ Firefighters, and one Firefighter/EMT. Captain/Training Officer is the only administrative position within Station 2, working a 40-hour work week simultaneously with Station 1 administrative personnel. Station 2 coverage area includes all residences south of North Avenue within the city limits. Station 2 operates and maintains a fleet of two emergency vehicles; Engine-2 and Rescue 2. Each vehicle maintains front-line readiness and waiting to be dispatched at any given time. |
