Yes. All new construction should have the zoning and use verified with the Planning Department prior to work commencing. Additionally, many vacant lots are located with the CRA and Historic Districts which have specific design standards that must be followed.

The deadline to submit an application to the Planning Department is the last business day of the month by 4:00 pm. Once a complete application is submitted, the planning department will begin review and schedule the application for the appropriate Site Plan Review Meeting.
A permit must be obtained to remove trees on non-residential properties. Applications are available on the city's website. Application fees are $100 and additional removal fees may apply. Please contact the Planning Department for more information.
