There may have been a time when preservation was about saving an old building here or there, but those days are gone. Preservation is in the business of saving communities and the values they embody.”  - Richard Moe, National Trust for Historic Preservation

Change is a good thing..

Change is vital to the growth of a city. Historic preservation must be prioritized as a tool to work alongside new development and innovation in Zephyrhills to spur the economy, revitalize neighborhoods, and create better communities.

About the district...

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2001, the Zephyrhills Historic District is comprised of 126 contributing structures dating from the 1910's to the 1940's. Examples of the American Architectural styles can be seen throughout the district and the city, however, a majority of structures are deemed vernacular. When applied to architecture, the term vernacular describes structures that are based on traditional regional and cultural forms. Vernacular structures, as seen in Zephyrhills, are a product of local craftsmen and local materials, not the work of formal architects.
